Taekwondo
Taekwondo has been recognized as one of the official sports of Korea for
nearly fifty years. It was also recently added to the roster of official sports for
the Olympics beginning with the 2000 Summer Games.
Noted for its use of strong foot techniques and spectacular ariel kicks, Taekwondo combines philosophy and a large array of hand and foot techniques into a complete
system of self-defense and fitness.
Through Taekwondo, adults and children learn focus, control, and respect, and
improve self-confidence and overall well-being.
In addition, adults benefit from a focus on "streetsmarts," how to be aware of your surroundings and what to do in awkward or threatening situations. Children learn teamwork, self-discipline and benefit from a special focus
on child safety, teaching children how to handle strangers and school yard bullies.
